About Reiki What is Reiki? Reiki is vibrational or "energy" treatment. Everything in existence has vibration, a vibrational field, and a vibrational frequency. Reiki literally translates as "the energy of the soul" or "the breath of the spirit" and carries the frequency or vibration of wholeness. This is the life force. When our life force is full and flowing, we are functional, well, and happy. When our life force is waning or blocked, disease and dysfunction occur. Reiki treatment pours a generous amount of life force into the body, bringing balance and reduction or freedom from pain or dysfunction. This life-supportive infusion can be done on oneself or another. How does it work? The source of life force is not personal; it abounds in life forms of nature all around us, and flows naturally through our hands after our energetic "gates" are opened in the Reiki training. A deeply relaxed state is attained as the "fuel" or life force of the body is fortified. Where does Reiki treatment fit with standard medical care? Current health care paradigms are engaging Complementary methods of treatment. The effectiveness of Reiki treatment for a broad spectrum of symptoms --from counteracting stress to supporting cancer patients --render this treatment an excellent partner with allopathic medicine. Any issue of imbalance, pain, swelling, surgical procedure or trauma can be positively impacted, balanced and homeostasis at least somewhat restored. For instance, patience receiving chemotherapy have been found to have significantly reduced side effects with consistent Reiki treatment, and their white blood cell count and and immune systems substantially supported. What can I expect from treatment? A full treatment is done with the recipient fully clothed, on a treatment table, being thoroughly treated on the head, neck, torso, back and auxiliary positions with the practitioner remaining quite still on each position for two to five minutes. Short mini treatments have reliably produced highly effective results also. Receiving and giving Reiki treatment is predictably integrative for both the practitioner and client. Self-treatment provides the essential core of self-care, providing a concentrated rest, release from pain for symptomology, renewal, and self-reflection and awareness. |
