Heartspeak Grandmothers Project "we need our roots in order to grow" Heartspeak Grandmothers Project is a project of the Whidbey Institute whose mission is to convene a global circle of grandmothers. This gathering will provide an opportunity for grandmothers to: Grandmother, what is required of us at this time for the good of all? This is the quesiton that will be asked of some of the world's wisest grandmothers, representing diverse peoples from the four corners of the earth, including the Maori, Tibetan, East Indian and Salish traditions. The human family will be strengthened and nourished through song and story from these and other authentic wisdom keepers. "As I grew up, my parents practiced the feelings prevalent among the First Peoples Nations, sacred feelings that respond to the beautiful, the way we feel internally . . . .words referring to human relationships that respect the Soul, that respect the life Creator has given us. We must teach our children this mutual respect." -- Grandmother Vi Hilbert, Upper Skagit/Salish, Northwest Coast, USA |
